Step 2: Condensation
• As invisible water vapour floats higher and higher into the sky, the air gets much colder.
• When water vapour cools down, it changes back from a gas into tiny droplets of liquid water. This process is called condensation.
• When billions of these tiny liquid water droplets (and tiny ice crystals) float together in the sky, they form clouds!
Step 3: Precipitation
• Inside the clouds, tiny water droplets bump into each other and join together, getting bigger and heavier.
• Eventually, the droplets become too heavy to stay floating in the air. Gravity pulls them down to Earth!
• Any water that falls from clouds to the ground is called precipitation.
• Precipitation can fall in four different forms: rain (liquid), snow (solid), sleet (slushy mix), or hail (hard balls of ice).

Once precipitation hits the ground, where does it go?
• Surface Run-off: Some water flows over the surface of the ground—such as racing down a steep hillside or mountain—and runs straight into streams, rivers, and oceans.
