Accepted Answer

Listen for the specific fact the question names, then write only that. A full transcribed sentence that buries the right answer inside irrelevant detail scores worse than a short, precise phrase.

Question 2

Candidates mix response languages, writing Spanish for Question 2 or English for Question 1, which loses credit automatically regardless of content.

Accepted Answer

Check the language instruction on every question before you write a word. Question 1 is Spanish, Question 2 is English, and there is no partial credit for the right idea in the wrong language.

Question 3

The A2 3 essay is written as a plot synopsis of the literary text rather than a structured argument that engages with the set question.

Accepted Answer

Open every paragraph with a sentence that directly answers the bullet point or question focus, then support it with one specific textual reference. Plot summary on its own is capped under AO4, however accurate the Spanish.

Question 4

Candidates run out of time in A2 3, leaving an underdeveloped conclusion and no time to proofread verb endings and adjective agreements.

Accepted Answer

Plan to reach your conclusion with about five minutes still on the clock. Use that time only to check accuracy, not to add more content.

Question 5

Multi-mark listening questions are answered with only one factor or detail when two or three are required.

Accepted Answer

Treat the mark value as an instruction. A three-mark question wants three distinct points from the recording, not one point explained at length.

Question 6

Spanish idiom is translated too literally into English, or English idiom too literally into Spanish, producing an answer that is technically word for word but does not convey the meaning.

Accepted Answer

Translate the meaning, not the individual words. If a literal rendering sounds odd in the target language, it is probably wrong even if each word is correct.

Question 7

Literary assertions in the A2 3 essay are left unsupported, with no direct reference to a scene, character or specific device from the text.

Accepted Answer

For every claim, name the moment in the text you are drawing it from. An assertion without a specific reference reads as opinion rather than analysis.
