The writing is assessed out of 30 marks using the official IB Language B assessment criteria: Criterion A: Language (12 marks) - Assess vocabulary, grammar, and register. High-scoring responses demonstrate a variety of sentence structures and precise vocabulary. Criterion B: Message (12 marks) - Assess how effectively the student explores the prompt's requirements. They must present both benefits and drawbacks of the AI tool, and provide concrete, realistic tips for responsible use. Criterion C: Conceptual understanding (6 marks) - Assess choice of text type and register. For a Blog post: must include a catchy title, direct engagement with the reader (e.g., closing question, greeting), and an informal but reflective tone. For a Letter to the editor: must include formal opening/closing, clear reference to a published topic, and formal register. For a Proposal: must include a clear heading, introduction, structured bullet points or subheadings, and a formal/persuasive tone.
