1. 1high影響する配点: 2Descriptive listening questions

   Giving vague descriptive words such as 'loud' or 'fast' instead of naming the specific musical mechanism, for example riff, ostinato, syncopation or discord.

   回避方法: Replace the general impression with the precise technical term the mark scheme is looking for.
2. 2high影響する配点: 1Timbre and instrumentation

   Naming a general instrument family, such as woodwind or guitar, instead of the specific instrument, such as oboe or acoustic guitar.

   回避方法: Name the exact instrument, not the family, whenever a question asks what you hear.
3. 3medium影響する配点: 1Texture

   Confusing homophonic texture, a melody with chordal accompaniment, with polyphonic or contrapuntal texture, several independent melodic lines.

   回避方法: Check whether there is one melodic line with accompaniment or several independent lines moving together before naming the texture.
4. 4high影響する配点: 4Section C extended response

   Missing one of the three prescribed categories in the Section C 12-mark answer, or making only one point within it.

   回避方法: Jot down the three category headings before writing and aim for at least three separate points in each one.

   Answering a 3 or 4-mark descriptive question with one elaborated observation instead of three or four distinct points.

   回避方法: Count the marks available and count out that many separate, distinct features as you write your answer.

   Writing an incomplete structural label, such as AB for a piece that is actually AABB.

   回避方法: Check both halves of a binary form, or every section of a rondo, are present before committing to the label.

   回避方法: Count the beat groupings before naming the metre: 6/8 groups in twos of three, 3/4 groups in threes.

   Misidentifying Irish dance types, calling a reel a jig or a polka.

   回避方法: Learn the distinct metric feel of each dance type, reel, jig and polka, before the listening exam.
