Numerical integration & differentiation

目的: Evaluate a definite integral \(\int_a^b f(x)\,dx\) or a gradient \(f'(x)\) at a point.

Use the GDC's numeric integral / derivative function with the limits or the point.

Statistics & probability distributions

Graphical calculator / GDC (exam mode)

目的: 1-var/2-var statistics, linear regression, and cumulative binomial / normal / Poisson probabilities without tables.

使う場面: Statistics questions and hypothesis tests.

Enter data in the statistics editor, or use the distribution menu (binomial cdf, normal cdf, …).

  1. 1high影響する配点: 3Integration (Unit P1: Pure Mathematics 1)

    Omitting the constant of integration (+c) in indefinite integration questions across all units (P1, P2, P3).

    回避方法: Write down '+ c' immediately as soon as you integrate the terms, before simplifying or substituting coordinate values to find the constant.
  2. 2high影響する配点: 2Coordinate geometry in the (x, y) plane (Unit P1: Pure Mathematics 1)

    Assuming that the gradient of a normal is equal to the gradient of the tangent, or neglecting the negative reciprocal rule.

    回避方法: Always calculate the tangent gradient first, then explicitly apply the negative reciprocal formula: m_normal = -1/m_tangent.

    Failing to use brackets when expanding binomial terms like (kx)^n, leading to errors where k is not raised to the power n.
